Youth in Focus spotlight

For the month of October, we are excited to announce that Jamall Swaso has been chosen for the Youth in Focus spotlight!! Jamall was born and raised in Dangriga and went on to earn a bachelors degree in business management from the University of Belize.
Jamall joined the Youth Ambassadors Program in 2019 as a mentor in order to offer his services to the youth within the program. During his position as a mentor, he assisted students from Central America namely Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Panama to help prepare them for their time in the United States. The students were sent to Idaho and Virginia in order to visit various universities and be introduced to different opportunities. This program aims to inspire future generations of leaders who will go on to be leaders within their own communities and develop networks to uplift Central America. In addition to helping young people, Jamall was able to gain a better understanding of how to operate within an international setting and see how he could use this knowledge to create various opportunities in Belize. He believes that this program is very beneficial to youth and was happy to be involved in the process.
Jamall is now an assistant project coordinator at the Ministry of Human Development currently involved with the project Youth RISE. Youth RISE focuses on youth intervention and giving young people opportunities through programs run by agencies in Belize. He is also the lead interviewer at SOBEL Media where he helps highlight news relevant to the southern region of Belize.
As the years continue, Jamall looks forward to further assisting his community.
